Learning Journey
We are lucky to have access to an electronic learning journey where you can see what your children have been doing - playing, exploring, learning.
Please check your Tapestry account regularly for updates. We will also post messages and reminders here so it's worth a look. You can also add your own observations, photographs and comments allowing us to see the adventures you've been having at home too! |
Reading in EYFS
Reading is a vital skill that children begin to develop in the Foundation Stage.
Through the teaching of phonics, children learn to recognise letters, say the sound that each letter makes and blend sounds together to read words. Your child will take part in three group reading sessions each week. The same book will be read three times with a slightly different focus for each session - decoding, prosody and comprehension. This same book will then be sent home on a Thursday for you to read with your child at home. The aim is for your child to read the book fluently without hesitation and to understand what they have read. |
