COVID-19 Information - Contingency planning
Most importantly, do not come into school if anyone in your household has Covid-19 symptoms.
As part of our Covid-19 contingency plans we must make arrangements for learning to continue to take place should the school have to either partially, or completely closedown.
In line with current Government guidance, we must do the following: For individuals or groups of self-isolating pupils, remote education plans should be in place. These should meet the same expectations as those for any pupils who cannot yet attend school at all due to coronavirus (COVID-19). To this end we shall be utilising Google Classrooms as our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for remote learning.
This VLE will provide children with the following benefits:
Teachers will post learning outlines and the teaching sequences, indicating when tasks will need to be submitted. There will an expectation that pupils log in to Google Classroom daily (if they are able to do so) and complete their work; should children need additional support they can communicate with their class teachers using the Google Classroom VLE. Parents have already been issued with direct email addresses for their child’s classteacher should they need support or wish to communicate with staff. Staff have complete access to all children’s accounts and will monitor all Classroom activity in line with our safeguarding procedures.
A quick guide on how to use Google Classroom has been provided and a link to a helpful video (on our school website), detailing its features. Over the course of the next week, you will be sent your child’s email address and password to login, please keep these safe and avoid sharing with parents from other classes. If you do not receive these by Friday 25th September, please email the school to let us know by email.
We are hoping for this VLE to go live by Monday 28th September. Children who are already self-isolating due to Covid-19 will receive their details first and will be able to access learning sooner.
For those unable to access the VLE, we shall be able to provide paper copies and these will be available for collection as and when required.
This is a new VLE platform that we are trialling and we may face a few technical issues during its inception. Please be patient as we develop this new way of working.

- More regular feedback from class teachers
- The opportunity to communicate more easily with their class teacher
- The opportunity to communicate with other children in the class in a secure way
- The opportunity to upload work using a laptop/ipad/PC or any smart device in a jpeg (picture), Word, PowerPoint or PDF format
