Primary School PE and Sport Funding
The Government is providing additional funding, to improve provision of Physical Education and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on developing the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. Schools have the freedom to choose how this funding is to be used.
At Hathern we believe that Physical Education contributes significantly to the health and well-being of children. We work hard to develop PE through curriculum time and extra-curricular activities by providing a wide range of experiences to engage and inspire all pupils.
We ensure that all pupils benefit, regardless of sporting experience; and have the opportunity to participate in inter-schools competitions and are signposted to local clubs.
The funding allocation for 2023-24 was £17,596.
We plan to use the funding to:

- employ a specialist sports coach to promote pupil participation in physical activity
- engage with specialist providers to deliver high quality PE to children throughout the school
- provide opportunities for professional development of teaching staff
- provide cover for teachers to attend professional development sessions
- provide outdoor adventurous activities
- introduce new sports and physical activities to cater for all interests
