Our reading this half-term ...
Our class novel will be Wonder by R. J. Palacio. We will use this text as the basis of our writing including diary writing and persuasive letters. Our whole class reading will also be based on this text for the first few weeks.
Our learning for this half term will be about Space ...
Homework
In Year 5, we have high expectations for the completion of homework.
Each week, the children will receive spellings to practise on Spelling Shed; times tables to learn on TTRockstars; and at least three pieces of reading to be recorded on Boom Reader.
Spellings
Spellings are set on Mondays when each group receives their new spellings for the week. You are set 15 games to practise over the week with each game earning you 1 house point. We will add all house points earnt over the 7 days on the following Monday.
Times Tables
Times tables are so important for so many areas of maths - not just multiplication calculations. Children are set 30 minutes of Times Tables Rock Stars practise on Fridays. A few minutes of practise each day will really help to build quick recall of these important facts.
If there any problems with the homework, please speak to me before or after school or email the school office.
