Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour!
Salut! 11.05.2020
I wonder if like me you are missing visiting places and exploring? I was supposed to be in Spain and Portugal at Easter, visiting Bruges, in Belgium at the beginning of June and going to a Euro 2020 match in Munich in Germany at the end of June. All gone! So instead of going somewhere for real, how about a virtual trip? Follow the link and have a virtual visit to Paris this week! Bon voyage!

Bonjour! Ca va? 27.04.2020
Here's your next story! This one is called "Ca n'existe pas!" (That doesn't exist.) I really like it for a number of reasons. Firstly it is a bit silly-how did he think up those wacky things? Secondly, it rhymes, which makes it easier for us to copy. And thirdly, I love the different ways the lady manages to say "Ca n'existe pas." She has lots of different intonation. All I'd like you to do is watch, listen, try to work out what they are saying by using your knowledge and the picture clues, and most of all join in!
Amusez-vous! (Have fun!) *** You may want to send me a little video clip of you joining in with the story like Emily did!*** |

Bienvenue au trimestre d'été! Welcome to the Summer Term!
Hello to you all! I have found a story for you watch and listen to called "Les orteils n'ont pas de nom!" The story is about the fact that our toes don't have specific labels, unlike our fingers and so the toes come up with some ideas to name the toes. It's a great story for you all-you will be able to practise basics. I am not expecting you to translate every word, just enjoy it and get the idea of it.
So here is your challenge! I would like you to draw round your foot and decorate and label your toes. Here's the twist! I would like you to find out 5 words to do with the topic your teachers have set you! So if you are learning about animals, find 5 animal words in French, or if it's geography , the French name for 5 countries. You can use the knowledge you already have, use a French dictionary if you have one, or use google translate. Have fun and remember to send me some great photos of your foot designs!

Year 6 Au café
Below is a French menu with the prices in Euros. On the right hand side you will see some questions.
Est-ce que je peux vous aider? Can I help you?
Oui, je voudrais…. Yes I would like…
Use the picture clues to answer the questions, working out what the items on the menu are, and writing the sentences in your homework books.
* Take care with the copying the definite/indefinite articles correctly (le/la/un/une/des)

Year 5 La chasse à l’ours
For the next 2 weeks in French we were going to watch, then learn a section of La chasse à l’ours (We’re going on a bear hunt). Follow the link and enjoy the story. Speak along with it. Try to record yourself saying some of it. Why not have a look on youtube for some other familiar stories in French.

Bonjour Year 1! This video will help you to learn the numbers 1-20 in French. (We have had a go at it this year but we all need a bit of practice!)
When you are feeling confident, you can try this interactive game. Remember that little and often is the best way. I wonder how quickly you will be able to do it?

These two activities should keep you going for 2 weeks.
Class F.
Here is the story we used to learn some of the colours in French. Enjoy it with your parents and carers.

And here is a game to practise your numbers to 10. Have fun!
(Parents/carers, we have been practising to 10, this game includes 11 and 12, onze (onz) and douze (dooz), so they will need help with those. Little and often is the best approach).

**Class 3
Class 3, last week we learnt the months of the year in French, and I told you we'd be learning how to say our birthday in French! So here goes!!
It's really easy to say the date in French because they don't say second, third, fourth but two, three and four, and they don't even use the word of!!
So to say "the second of April" in French you just say "le deux avril."
To say "the fifteenth of September" you say "le quinze septembre."
The only exception is "the first" which is "le premier, " so "the first of June" is "le premier juin."
I would like you to use the month chart and the number chart to create in your homework book a page full of birthdays in your family. Title the page "Quand est ton anniversaire?" (when is your birthday?), then draw little images of your parent, siblings, grandparents, cousins, aunties and uncles and write their birthday underneath. I wonder who can collect the most birthdays?
**Don't forget that French people don't use a capital letter for the months!

Class 4
Class 4, it's time to learn to tell the time!!
You will need your numbers to 12-you can use the interactive game that I have put in Class F's section for a quick reminder!
You can see that I have put a powerpoint below which will teach you how to ask "What time is it?"-"Quelle heure est-il?" (kell err ay teel?), and how to answer for o'clock times. For example "It is seven o'clock,"- "Il est sept heures," (eel ay set err).
There are three exceptions;
It is one o'clock-il est une heure-look there's no "s" on the end of heure. Can you think why? And why is it une and not un?
Midday and midnight also have there own words-you'll find them in the powerpoint!

What I'd like you to do in your homework book is to draw some clock faces and write the time underneath. If you have a printer, you can use this worksheet instead.

So how was that? Ready for the next step?
This time, it's time to learn how to say half past times!
It's really quite simple. In English you would say, "It is half past two," but the French is even easier, "Il est deux heures et demie." Literally French people say, "It is two hours and half." Look at the French carefully, it's the same as you did last time with the addition of "et demie." (eel ay ders err ay d-mee)

So how was that? Want to be creative? Make a diary for a day using o'clock and half past times. Draw a clock, write the time, and draw what you are doing eg getting up, having lunch. I am looking forward to seeing what you can create!
Class 2
Hi Class 2! Last week Mrs Staples taught you how to say that you were thirsty and how to ask for a drink of your choice. This week I'm going to teach you how to say you are hungry and how to ask for some different foods.
If you are hungry you say "J'ai faim." (zhay fam)
Look at the pictures below. In your homework book, write "J'ai faim. Je voudrais...." and complete the sentence one food stuff at a time, drawing a picture to match each item. I can't wait to see your drawings!
