Spelling
In order for
us all to become successful in our writing we need to be able to spell accurately.
Hathern CE Primary values the Teaching and Learning of spelling for the
following reasons:
1. Spelling improves the fluency of our writing and enables us to focus on the more important creative elements of our work and the purpose and organisation of our writing.
2. Spelling provides children with the key skills they require to read unfamiliar words and add this to their knowledge base.
3. Spelling allows for the investigation of the meaning of words and widens the knowledge and understanding of the written word.
4. Spelling also helps the us to develop into confident readers and writers
