Ukelele Tuition January 2022 - Year 3

Picture
Our specialist music tuition will take place this academic year after all.

Staff shortages in the Autumn at Leicestershire Music (https://leicestershiremusichub.org/parent-carers) meant that we were initially unable to take part in Ukelele lessons but the good news for our Year 3 pupils is that they will start Tuesday 18th January!

The children will take their instruments home each week in order that they can practice some of the skills and techniques being taught by their tutor. To support them, resources can be found below which will further support them in their learning.

Remote learning update from Mr Trueman

Things to remember: (written for Right Handed players so please reverse for left handed playing)
  • Sit comfortably on a chair (without arms) and don’t lean back in your chair.
  • Keep your thumb behind your fingers in the left hand.
  • Use your fingertips to push next to the frets with your left hand.
  • Keep your right hand thumb rested when you play with walking fingers.
  • Try to project a good sound when you play!
  • Focus on a goal each time you practice!
A little and often approach to playing is always better than a once a week practice! Happy Practicing!

Stay safe and well!

Ukelele Lessons with Mr Trueman

Try practising at home what you have learnt with Mr Trueman each week.
The more you practise, the better you'll get!

The following images should help when practising at home - they are the ones that Mr Trueman uses at school.

Remember to bring your ukelele to school every Tuesday for your lesson.

If your ukelele needs tuning - bring it to Mr Dunn preferably before your lesson :), and he'll sort it.
